This project is designed to support primary teachers in developing specialist knowledge for teaching mathematics, thus enabling them to understand, teach and support pupils in maths in the classroom.
There are two pathways: Number, and Spatial Reasoning. Each pathway consists of several core units and looks at specific core units and looks at specific topics as well as policy and practice. Exploration of modules in these pathways will take place during the academic year, over the equivalent of four days. Participants in the programme may wish to follow one pathway this year, and the other pathway next year.
The Spatial Reasoning Pathway is new for 22/23, further information will be added here once it is available.
This programme is designed for teachers who would like to further develop their specialist knowledge for teaching maths. It will be particularly relevant for teachers who have previously completed the SKTM Primary Teachers - Number Pathway, that have moved phases or teachers that have not received maths-specific training.
The SKTM – Primary programme is fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme so is free to participating schools.
