This Work Group aims to help teachers in EYFS improve their mathematical subject knowledge alongside developing understanding of age appropriate pedagogies suitable for Early Years settings. Sessions will have an emphasis on the ‘Number’ ELG and strategies that promote children’s Early Number Sense (a key indicator of later mathematical success). Aligned with the NCETM’s Early Years materials, the Work Group will explore the development trajectories of three key areas of early mathematics development: Comparison, Cardinality and Composition. This Work Group contains the subject knowledge and pedagogy aspects that used to be part of East Midlands South’s successful Early Years F2 TRG: Developing ENS
