SECONDARY Maths Subject Leaders Community

 

 

This community provides an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of teaching approaches, of their wider roles, and of their capacity with their colleagues to transform secondary maths learning.

SECONDARY MAT Maths Leaders Community

 

 

This community supports those who lead maths across multiple schools within a MAT (which includes at least one secondary school). Participants will also develop their role as a leader of system change, curriculum change, and teacher professional development.

DEVELOPMENT WORK GROUP

 

The Secondary Teaching for Mastery Development Work Group is a funded professional development programme which involves individual teachers and their departments working over time to embed mastery into maths learning.

Secondary Teaching for Mastery Sustaining Work Groups are for all departments that have previously participated in Teaching for Mastery Development Work Groups and all Mastery Specialist Departments.

Securing Foundations at

Year 7 Work Group

 

Discover ways to help students who need additional support to make good progress in KS3 and beyond. This project aims to provide professional development and resources for secondary maths teachers, so they are better equipped with KS1 and KS2 maths curriculum domain-specific knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge. It will give them the necessary expertise to support students with gaps in understanding content from previous Key Stages.

Research and Innovation Work Group- Overseas Secondary Mathematics Teachers

Overseas Secondary Mathematics Teachers

 

This work group is designed to support overseas teachers in their first year in England to adapt to teaching mathematics. It will combine sessions that focus on typical pedagogy and subject knowledge from Key stage 2, 3 and 4 in England with opportunities to watch high quality live lessons and to learn from established overseas teachers.

Years 5-8 Continuity Work Group

 

This Work Group aims to strengthen the transition from primary to secondary school by focusing on curriculum and pedagogical continuity over Years 5 to 8. Participants should be teachers of Years 5-8 in primary, secondary, middle school and all-through schools who have some responsibility for curriculum development

Supporting Students To Achieve a L2 Qualification In Maths Work Group

 

 

Teachers of Years 10 and 11, and of post-16 GCSE Maths resit and/or Functional Skills Maths, will develop ways to support students who need to study maths beyond age 16 to achieve a L2 qualification.

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE FOR TEACHING MATHEMATICS PROGRAMMES

Specialist Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics (SKTM) Programmes are for individual teachers to develop specialist knowledge to improve their practice. Schools that have a participant in the SKTM programme one year are eligible to apply for another participant the following year. For 2024/25 we will running the following SKTM Programmes:

SKTM- SECONDARY NON-SPECIALIST TEACHERS PROGRAMME

SECONDARY NON-SPECIALIST TEACHERS PROGRAMME

 

This programme is designed to support non-specialist teachers teaching maths in a secondary school in developing specialist knowledge for teaching mathematics, thus enabling them to understand, teach and support students in maths in the classroom.

SKTM- SECONDARY TEACHING ASSISTANTS PROGRAMME

SECONDARY TEACHING ASSISTANTS PROGRAMME

 

This programme is designed to improve the subject knowledge and pedagogical knowledge for all TAs supporting the learning of secondary maths. It is relevant for teaching assistants who work for most of their time with students in the KS3 maths classroom or who lead intervention sessions with groups of students.

Core Maths Teachers Programme

 

Core Maths is a relatively new qualification and uptake is growing, so more Core Maths teaching capacity is needed. This programme seeks to address this need by helping teachers to develop the specialist knowledge to teach Core Maths effectively.

Local Leaders of Mathematics Education Programmes 

 

The Local Leaders of Mathematics Education (LLME) Programmes include the NCETM Professional Development Lead Programme, NCETM School Development Programme, Secondary Mastery Specialist Programme and Post-16 GCSE and FSQ Mastery Specialists Programme.
