In the first of a series of online events we are excited that Jonny Hall, Lead Practitioner at Leed City Academy and creator of the incredible MathsBot website, will focus on Variation. In the session he will showcase practical ways that teachers can make the most of Variation within their planning and where opportunities may arise during lessons.

We are hosting an online pop-up event aimed at Headteachers, Maths Leads and KS1 and Reception Phase Leads. During the session the aims, benefits and impact of participating in the Mastering Number programme will be shared. There will be a chance to watch part of a lesson along side an opportunity to hear feedback from various teachers who have participated in the programme. Time will be provided at the end of the session for follow up questions.

Come and join us for this short 'taster' session to discover more about what is meant by Spatial Reasoning (and why it doesn't just mean geometry). Spatial reasoning is important - for daily life, Mathematics and the wider curriculum - and research shows there is a positive correlation between spatial ability and mathematical ability - but often there is not a significant focus on spatial reasoning in the Mathematics curriculum. So come along, engage with some spatial thinking and find out a little more about how the two SKTM programmes offered by East Midlands South Maths hub (primary and early years) could support you in raising the profile of spatial reasoning in school.

East Midlands South Maths Hub is very pleased to be able to offer an opportunity to attend an online event with Steve Wren - OFSTED subject lead for mathematics. Steve has agreed to deliver an Engineering Mathematical Success talk to all interested schools in the East Midlands South Maths Hub area.
The is FREE online event which will be held on Thursday 28th September 2023 4pm-5pm and all Teachers from Primary and Secondary Schools within our region are welcome to attend.
Unfortunately due to the planned NEU strike action on the 5th July we have decided to postpone this event, we hope to be able to reschedule this in the autumn term and will update this page when we have further information.

We are very excited to announce that Pete Mattock, the author of Visible Maths and Conceptual Maths, is running a professional development session looking at rates of change through the lens of variation, fluency, representations and coherence.
The session is FREE and open to ANYONE. It will be hosted at Kettering Science Academy on Monday 27th March 2023 between 4.15pm and 6.00pm.
Leicestershire & Rutland Teaching School Hub are looking for Maths & Humanities Leaders to join their Visiting Fellow Team working with schools across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and the East Midlands. Visiting Fellows work with Leicestershire & Rutland Teaching School Hub, delivering Ambition Institute content to the new teachers and mentors on our Early Career Framework. Visiting Fellows are current teachers, leaders and consultants who deliver the programme in addition to their main role.
